Dublin Martial Arts Club on board with Gifts4Fones
Tuesday, 8 September, 2009
Community groups in Dublin from sports clubs to schools can collect free gifts and equipment by collecting old mobile phones following
the launch of the new gifts4fones.ie website in the county this week. The Gifts4Fones initiative works by awarding points for old mobile
phones. These points can then be redeemed against gifts on the Gifts4Fones website.
Under the scheme Gifts4Fones will also donate a tree for planting in the area.
The Bujinkan Tsunami Dojo in Killiney, Co. Dublin are one of the first sports clubs to join the scheme and are collecting phones to help
them generate free training equipment.
“A lot of the training we do is based around nature, and training out of doors as we do, we felt it appropriate to support Gifts4Fones
” commented Shihan Tommy Lawlor. “Not only are we doing our bit for the environment, but it will be great to watch our tree grow as
we grow in our training.”
“The current economic climate means it is increasingly difficult for groups to generate funding or raise money,” commented Alan
McCarthy from Gifts4Fones. “Our recycling programme allows people to trade their old mobile phones for much needed supplies.”
Clubs interested in participating in the Gifts4Fones scheme should go online to www.gifts4fones.ie or call 01 427 9797.
